Making a claim

One of the distinguishing qualities that sets Hiscox apart from other insurers is the speed and fairness with which we settle insurance claims. If and when you need to make a claim, it is of paramount importance to us to ensure the entire process is handled quickly, simply and professionally.

Making a claim: the first step

If you need to make a claim, please call us at your earliest convenience. If you can have your policy number to hand, it will help us to deal with your claim more rapidly. For your convenience, our claims lines are available 24 hours a day.

If you have a home emergency that requires a contractor to be sent immediately (e.g. burst pipes etc) then
call: 0845 213 8400.

Approving your claim

If your claim is approved and we agree a cash settlement, we will pay the relevant amount directly to your bank account.

As part of standard Hiscox service, we guarantee that such payments will be paid within four working days of the claim being approved and agreed. Furthermore, we will notify you that your account has been credited. If we fail to meet this level of service, we will pay you interest on the claim amount if the agreed claim is in excess of £2,500*.

*If we do not pay your claim within four working days after receiving your acceptance form, we will pay interest, at your banks base rate. We will only do this if your premium is up to date.

You must send us your bank details when you sign the acceptance form so that we can transfer the money into your account. Your bank must be in the United Kingdom. This promise to pay does not apply if you do not send us details, or if you ask us to pay by another method.
